The Boy and the North Wind (Gutten og Nordavinden)

Once upon a time, in Norway, lived a boy named Pear and his poor mother. One day, his mother sent him to fetch flour for bread. The North Wind blew the flour away three times!
Pear went to the North Wind’s home. The North Wind gave him a magic cloth that made food appear. At an inn, a troll hag stole it and gave him a plain cloth. The Wind then gave Pear a magic ram that made gold coins. The hag stole the ram too, replacing it with a normal one.
For the third time, Pear visited the Wind and received a magic stick. When the hag tried to steal the stick, Pear commanded, “Stick, stick, beat the hag!” The stick beat her until she returned the cloth and the ram. Pear went home with his magic items, and he and his mother had plenty of food and money forever after.

Det var en gang, i Norge, en gutt som het Pear og hans fattige mor. En dag sendte moren ham for å hente mel til brød. Nordavinden blåste melet vekk tre ganger!
Pear gikk til Nordavindens hjem. Nordavinden ga ham en magisk duk som laget mat. På et vertshus stjal en trollkjerring den og ga ham en vanlig duk. Vinden ga så Pear en magisk vær som laget gullmynter. Kjerringen stjal vær’n også, og erstattet den med en vanlig.
For tredje gang besøkte Pear vinden og fikk en magisk stokk. Da kjerringen prøvde å stjele stokken, kommanderte Pear: “Stokk, stokk, slå kjerringa!” Stokken slo henne til hun ga tilbake duken og vær’n. Pear reiste hjem med sine magiske ting, og han og moren hans hadde masse mat og penger for alltid.
